Disability Direct in Nottingham supports disabled people, older people and carers to answer questions that affect their day to day lives. In addition to our information service, we have Welfare Rights service for people who have questions regarding disability related benefits. This includes universal credit. Assistance can also be offered with preparing for benefits appeals and tribunals.
We have a service that uses volunteers to help people with things such as odd jobs, befriending, small shopping trips and more. We actively recruit volunteers from across Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire. As well as having an up to date DBS, our volunteers receive a variety of training sessions and to enable them to help people in their communities and progress on either a career or learning path.
We promote positive change in a non-political and non-campaigning way. As an organisation, we have a strong sense of commitment to empowering people to make their own choices and make positive decisions about independent living opportunities.
